The Survivors of the Chancellor Jules Verne 9781482557091 Books

the most surprising page-turner you'll ever read!

From an unassuming ship on an seemingly mundane voyage comes more drama, suspense, and excitement than you'd ever think to find in a 19th century book.

Although known for only a few of his works, Jules Verne has authored quite a few novels. This one should be in his top 10.

Written in journal style first person as one of the ship's passengers, this story begins in an every-day fashion but don't be fooled! As in real life, circumstances paint a very different picture than expectations. Before you know it, you're up to your knees in suspense!

What does it take to make normal people become mad? What are real hunger and real thirst? How far will a person go to ensure his own survival - or that of another? These are only a few of the questions answered so vividly that it is little less than cinematic. No one who gets through the first couple of chapters will be bored with this one!

Be warned! This book is not for the squeamish or timid. But if you are a real shipwreck-survivor story fanatic, this one is for you!

A satisfying readf
How can you go wrong with Jules Verne? It is an easy read. Great airplane fodder or just for relaxing.
Probably Verne's worst book. Long, drawn-out suffering in a survivor story. I read it only because it was mentioned in the Lost tv series.
Wow, this is not what I expected. You can really get some serious nightmares. Still it sure kept my attention. Probably an accurate account of what can happen. Makes me never want to take another cruise.
Not science fiction, but it's still a good story about a disaster at sea. If you enjoy the subgenre (like Men at Sea) then you'll enjoy this. Just don't expect SciFi Verne.
I think Verne went to his limits of human nature in this book. Most of his stories have some tragedy but usually fair outcomes. This by far shows his (i think very honest human understanding) of what man is capable of doing in dire situations! It is the only one of his books I have read so far that goes down this path.It will keep you reading on & on.
Very intense and interesting. I wonder if it is based on a true sea disaster. The end felt a little rushed, but the story was over, so no problem.
